Graduate Courses in Biochemistry

Special Courses

BCHM 801 (Research in Biochemistry)
This course is intended to be used by students in other departments or students in special programs. However, it may also be taken by biochemistry and molecular biology graduate students for special research projects. In addition, this course is used for research rotations (1-3 credits). The faculty member is required to assign a grade for the course. Although this course grade is used by the graduate school to determine probationary status, etc., it will not be used by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to allow a student to continue in a degree program.
BCHM 890 and BCHM 990 (Master's Research and Doctoral Research)
These courses are to be taken by graduate students for their master's and doctoral research. It is the policy of the department to assign the grade of P (for progress) until the student has completed the research.
BCHM 899 and BCHM 999 (Master's Thesis and Doctoral Dissertation)
These courses are reserved for the actual writing of the thesis or dissertation and are taken in the last semester or two of the student's program.
