University of Kansas Medical Center Auxiliary
Welcome to the official website of the University of Kansas Medical Center Auxiliary, Inc. Our mission is to provide voluntary services and financial assistance to the University of Kansas Medical Center, the University of Kansas Hospital, the University of Kansas Medical Center Student Union and for the benefit of patients, students, employees and staff at the University of Kansas Medical Center and the University of Kansas Hospital.

We have provided thousands of volunteer hours and have contributed $1.5 million to the KU campus since our inception in 1948.
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE KU AUXILIARY - MAY 2011
Greetings New and Seasoned Members,
It is a distinct pleasure to welcome you to the 2011 - 2012 KU Auxiliary year. Writing this message on Mother's Day, reminds me of the many wise and generous women (and men too) who serve tirelessly for this non-profit organization as officers and appointed Chairman/Vice Chairmen. But keep in mind we always have fun and love to meet and encourage new members (men and women) to join as friends with fresh energy.
This year we are willing to "Give, Give, and Give Some More," and not "hold back as much financially." To quote our strategic Treasurer, Marcia Schmidt, "not spending may be prudent for personal finances, but as a philanthropic group we should give more." The Auxiliary plans to increase our funding support in a number of ways:
•· By supporting two larger but equal projects (up from one last year-Missy's Boutique): one for the University of Kansas Hospital and one for the University of Kansas Medical Center, after early input from the appropriate administrators of each group.
•· There will continue to be monies for "project requests," with an increased amount of funding guided by evaluation and review from the project committee.
•· The Chaplain's Discretionary Fund will be increased this year.
•· The Medical Arts Symphony funding will increase to what it was the previous year.
Increased KU Auxiliary giving is the result of Jennifer Thibault's leadership as Chair of Bazaars and Fundraisers, with the "shoes glorious shoes sales," a beautiful new, buzzing gift shop and the work and organization of incredible KU bakers and more. But, this message is also a "Call To Action" for regular assistance with gardening (call Ann Nelson), decorating the hospital (call Dorothy Ebner), working in the gift shop (call Shirley Schloenlaub) and help with the April shop inventory ( call Virginia Cuppage). As a new shop volunteer myself, I can attest to having fun while learning the ropes from an experienced staff. If you are a homebody and like to volunteer from there, Rebekah Mani has the perfect job for you. As a Telephone Committee caller, you perform the vital function of reminding members of programs, needs and up-to-date communications.
On a joyous note, our delightful programs include lunch and a fall play at the Metropolitan Ensemble Theatre(MET), a repeat of the popular Valentine's dinner at Chaz on the Plaza and a lively, Kansas writer, who has thrilling stories to tell about Kansas, and much more.
Sincerely,
Sheila Jewell, RN, President
