Kansas City ASTRA Program
The KC ASTRA Program is a community-based program with the goal of improving outcomes for people following stroke.
Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability among older adults, currently affecting more than 5.5 million people in the US. In an effort to address this growing problem, rehabilitation researchers in the Kansas City area are working to discover the best ways to help people recover from stroke.
Co-ordinated through the Landon Center on Aging, the ASTRA program represents a group of clinicians and researchers from a variety of fields, including physical therapy, rehabilitation science, neuropsychology, and engineering, to name a few.
Even though our backgrounds may differ, our fundamental goal is to better understand the effects of stroke and to find better ways to restore function following stroke.
