The
orthopedic operating rooms at KU hospital are some of the busiest rooms in
the city, with a wide variety of cases being performed day and night. Our residents
gain valuable experience with invasive monitoring, positioning, evoked potentials,
regional techniques for pain control, and intrathecal narcotics, not to mention
massive fluid resuscitation. The orthopedic surgeons at KU perform a wide variety
of surgeries, including spine surgery, orthopedic oncologic surgery, along
with a variety of arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures. It is safe to
say that you will not likely come across an orthopedic case after graduation
that you have not been exposed to at KU. The experience gained here will be
of use no matter what type of practice you have.
