The office of the Chair orchestrates the activities of the department, including the faculty, residents and students. As chair, Dr. Kindscher is responsible for leading the department in its mission of comprehensive anesthesia education, clinical and laboratory research and outstanding patient care. The department is dedicated to offering an excellent education to residents and students, so that they may acquire the knowledge and understanding necessary in the clinical application of our specialty. The department’s mission of education incorporates new knowledge and encourages continued development by utilizing the most proven instructional methods, as well as the latest technology and tools. The newly purchased METI simulator is evidence of this technology and is an invaluable tool for the instruction of residents and students.
As chair of the department, Dr. Kindscher also supports and guides the intellectual curiosity and research efforts of department faculty members. This includes efforts to enhance the department’s ability to obtain research grants and encourage and facilitate collaborative research projects with other departments. In addition, the residents are encouraged to become involved in research efforts.
Dr. Kindscher has been active in the Medical Center for the past 17 years, serving as Director of the Operating Room, Vice Chief of Staff, Chairman of the Credentials Committee and as a member of the faculty practice plan’s board of directors. His efforts in these areas are essential to the well-being of not only the Department of Anesthesiology but the Hospital and physician practice in general.
