Molecular Regulation of Cell Development and Differentiation
Principal
Investigator: Dale R. Abrahamson, Ph.D.
Associate Directors: Glen K. Andrews, Ph.D., and Michael
J. Soares, Ph.D.
The overall goal of our new Center is to establish a thematic,
multidisciplinary research group focused on examining and understanding
the molecular regulation of cell development and differentiation. This
Center, which is funded by the NIH National Center for Research
Resources (NCRR; grant number: 1P20RR024214), will provide the
resources to increase the critical mass of investigators at the
University of Kansas Medical Center whose research shares a developmental
focus. Funds are also available to increase infrastructure
and state-of-the-art research equipment and technologies for the
Center’s scientists. The Center will also identify,
organize, and enable senior investigators to serve as mentors for
newly recruited junior faculty who work in developmental biology. Overall,
this Center will create a stimulating, supportive, and synergistic
research environment and develop new investigators capable of
competing successfully for independent research awards.
