Helping investigators do innovative research is a central function of the KU ADC. We provide consultation, services, or research materials to investigators.

The KU ADC can support the following research requests:

Access to well characterized AD, mild cognitive impairment and aging control populations and banked AD and control subject biospecimens, including:

Access to and assistance with existing datasets, including:

  • Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative

The KU ADC specializes in metabolism and mitochondrial function and has expertise in:

  • Physical fitness, glucose tolerance, metabolic rate, and body composition testing
  • Structural brain neuroimaging of humans and animals
  • Metabolic neuroimaging of humans and animals, including FDG PET, AV-45 and MRS
  • Biochemical assays
  • Platelet mitochondria enzyme activities, mitochondria O2 consumption, mitochondrial DNA heteroplasmy detection
  • Production and characterization of transmitochondrial hybrid cell lines
  • Brain protein aggregation assessments
  • WBC gene expression and gene sequencing
  • Cytoplasmic hybrid cell line creation and characterization
