KU Alzheimer's Disease Center is located at the KU Clinical Research Center in Fairway, Kan. Designed unlike any other research facility in the country, the Clinical Research Center was made possible through a 1/8-cent sales tax approved in 2008 by the residents of Johnson County and a Hall Family Foundation building donation.
The tax is projected to raise $15 million a year for a venture called the Johnson County Education and Research Triangle (JCERT). Each of three university-backed projects, which aim to advance research, science, education and technology, will boost the Kansas City area's reputation as a leader in the life-science and biomedical fields.
