Programs & Events

The KU Medical Center Alumni Associations host numerous events throughout the year for alumni and students. From the Alumni Awards Program to the annual Jayhawk Huddle and the New Student Welcome, the KUMC Alumni Associations are reconnecting alumni and friends to the University of Kansas Medical Center. We hope you will join us for one or more of these events to reunite with classmates and colleagues and keep up-to-date on the latest happenings in your school!

Alumni Weekend

All KUMC alumni and friends are welcomed back to campus during KUMC Alumni Weekend in September. You can have lunch with your favorite faculty members, learn about the latest at KUMC from the Executive Vice Chancellor, reunite with classmates and old friends and see what has changed since you were here! The weekend is topped off with a celebration gala, where Alumni Award Winners are recognized and reunion classes are honored.

Awards Program

The KUMC Alumni Associations annually honors the recipients of the Distinguished Alumnus Award, Honorary Alumnus Award and Early Career Achievement Award for the School of Allied Health, School of Medicine and School of Nursing.

Several graduating students also receive awards from the Alumni Associations. These include the Allied Health Cooney Leadership Award and for nursing students, the Outstanding Senior Award, Jean Hill Award, Melba Carter Award, Henrietta Froehlke Award and the PhD Award. The Nurses Alumni Association also gives a KU Nurses Alumni Research Award to a deserving nursing doctoral student.

White Coat Connection

Graduates of the KU School of Medicine volunteer for this new mentoring program in conjunction with the KU School of Medicine. These alumni volunteers help recruit the selected applicants and develop the first-year students, helping them to succeed and prepare for their future in medicine! No matter your age, specialty or graduation year, you have something to offer one of these bright, promising students.

Graduation Brunch

Families, friends and graduates celebrate the culmination of KUMC education at the Graduation Brunch. Students have the chance to show their families around campus. Alumni and friends join in the celebration!  -- fill out form here --

Jayhawk Huddle

Join the KUMC Alumni Associations in cheering on the Jayhawks on the gridiron each fall! We host a pre-game party on Campanile Hill, complete with food, friends and fun!

The Alumni Associations financially support the yearbook for the KU Medical Center. Members of the Alumni Association boards are featured annually in the book.

Kansas State Nurses Association Breakfast

The Nurses Alumni Association annually hosts a breakfast for all alumni at the yearly state conference.

Kansas Medical Society Reception

At the annual Kansas Medical Society conference, the Medical Alumni Association invites alumni to attend a reception.

KU Basketball Watch Parties

Jayhawk basketball is a tradition in itself, but so are the KUMC Watch Parties! Students, faculty and alumni gather in Kansas City and Wichita to cheer the Hawks on the hardwood during Big 12 Conference play.

New Student Welcome Luncheon

The Alumni Association welcomes all new KUMC students by providing lunch and a gift during the first month of classes. Alumni Association members are invited to join us in welcoming these future health care professionals. This is a great opportunity for the new students to get to know the alumni and learn about what the Alumni Association can do for them!

Resident Orientation Breakfast

Each June, the KU Medical Alumni Association hosts a breakfast for all new residents during their orientation week. Residents are invited to join the Alumni Association and enjoy coffee, pastries and fruit.

State Outreach

The Alumni Association travels to various parts of the state and hosting events to re-connect with other KUMC Alumni.
