
Mrs. Dixon passed away on December 29th, 2006 in Topeka. She was 87 and was still proud to tell people she was a nurse. She married George Dixon, a KU graduate with a major in social work, on December 7, 1941.
Mrs. Lear celebrated 64 years of great married life with two children, five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
Ms. Langston was married in 1939 to Charles Langston. The war caused a lot of moving but their final move was to Florida after Chuck came home. After graduation from KU Nursing she did private duty followed by industrial at K.C. Pratt and Witney until she had two children, Ray and Judy. Ray and Judy both have three children and have given Marie five grandchildren. Golf was her main accomplishment and she enjoyed tournaments. She had a hip replacement in 2002 and arthritis followed. This caused her move to an assisted living home which is great. There’s good food and no work!
Ms. Seiberling passed away on September 16, 2006.
Ms. Meyer moved into Grand Court Retirement Home two years ago and has enjoyed everyday as they have much going on to keep her active.
Mrs. Marr had a very interesting career of staff, teaching, and administration. She has been retired for 20 years and it has been great.
Ms. Hildebrand passed away on February 14, 2007.
Ms. Rose passed away January 18, 2007
Mrs. Hartman worked in Topeka for Dr. King Lee Choy and Kansas Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was Welcome Wagon Hostess in Green Valley, AZ and taught in Tucson at Pima Medical Institute.
Mrs. Clark has moved into a condo while her husband is in a nursing home with dementia.
Mrs. Oberholtzer still holds dear the educational roots she learned at KU Medical Center even 57 years after her graduation. She doesn’t travel anymore as her weight bearing joints don’t cooperate that well. She gets around with a cane to the grocery store, to church, and out to lunch with friends.
Ms. Allen has lived in Dallas, TX for 15 years and adjusted with vigor and happiness. She stays active by participating in church, college emeritus classes, and classical piano practice. She treasures her family in Dallas.
Ms. Dahl is a Professor Emeritus at Arizona State University College of Nursing. She continues to volunteer doing disaster nursing for the American Red Cross and teaches part time for Grand Canyon University. Her husband has recently passed away. He was a retired law professor at ASU.
Ms. Bird continues to volunteer as a parish nurse at Columbine United Church. She now has seven grandchildren, the oldest will be five and the youngest two are six month old twins. She keeps busy.
Ms. Howe retired from nursing.
Ms. Wolf has a lot of good memories and loved being a part of KU. Even though she misses her life mate, Harold, she is enjoying family and friends. She is having fun learning to fly an airplane. Her daughter Linda and son Bob took a road trip to the Northwest last June.
Ms. Hanson received an award at the Student Legal Day for her effort and dedication in helping Kansas City graduate nurses study for the NCLEX examination.
Mrs. Weld is still enjoying school nursing, making a difference! She also still enjoys cheering on the Hawks! Rock Chalk!
Mrs. King moved to town and built a loft apartment in a 1928 commercial building on the courthouse square after living 40 years in an 18th century house in the country. Mrs. King and her husband love their new home. They are working on restoring other buildings in the downtown area to help with its revitalization.
Dr. Bridges retired from KUMC after “almost” 40 years. Her son Kevin Latinis MD, PhD is Professor of Medicine at KUMC. Her daughter Carie is a second grade teacher and son Kyle is an archeologist in Cambodia. She has thirteen grandchildren.
Mrs. Hutchinson retired from school nursing two years ago. She now has more time for her four grandchildren. She also enjoys being a Stephen Minister and doing volunteer work as a member of Johnson County Young Matrons.
Mrs. Hoggard has three children and one grandchild.
Ms. Martin was named Financial Officer for HMC, after 11.5 years as Executive Director. She is responsible for grant writing and financial management for the non-profit medical clinic serving medically underserved in south-central Kansas.
Ms. Pike’s third grandchild, Brewer Aiken Bogart, was born in April 2007 in Gunnison, Colorado.

Ms. Homburger is working as an APN in HF Program at MAHI. She also has a “colorful” antiques and collectibles business which specializes in vintage jewelry, accessories, dresser top picture frames and other fun items.
Mrs. McAllister retired during the summer of 2002 from nursing. Her nine children keep her busy! Four are grown and gone from home. She is a full-time mother and homeschool teacher to her five younger children still at home, ages 12, 8, 5, 3, and 9 months.
Ms. Witmer has been working as a hospice RN, CHPN – Certified Hospice and Pallative Nurse. She will be starting at ASU in the Summer of 2007 to get her RNP in Gerantology with CS in Psychology specializing in Alzeheimers/Dementia. She has worked 7.5 years in hospice. Ms. Witmer works for the largest hospice in the United States.
Ms. Niebling is working minimally as a PRN in healthcare and one shift per week in Assisted Living at Aberdeen Village.
Mrs. Thompson hasn’t been able to practice her profession, operating room administration, for the past eight years due to Systemic Sclerosis and Fibromylagia and all the complications of auto immune diseases. She has also noted the increasing number of RN’s developing Scleroderma, either Systemic or Crest Syndrome. She is also the “family nurse” doing hospice care for two years for the Lopez and Thompson families.
Ms. Wilson has been elected to the Kansas State Nurses Association’s Board of Directors. She is currently employed by Providence Medical Center.
Ms. Mitchell received her Doctorate in Business with a major in Healthcare Administration in January from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Mrs. DeVault is volunteering in the community by teaching Cub Scouting Readyman class. She was elected one year ago to the library board of St. Charles as a trustee. She has not worked outside the home since 1994, although she’s kept up her license. She is on the board of the Delnor Community Hospital Auxiliary helping to raise money for a Digital Mammography machine.
Mr. Neis recently joined the Clinical Operations team at the Advisory Boards H*Works division. He is a member of the EMS subcommittee on the Institute of Medicine’s project titled, “the Future of Emergency Care in the U.S. Health System.”
Mrs. Hamlin received the Nurse Volunteer of the Year Award at the 94th annual Kansas State Nurses Association convention. Nurse Volunteer of the Year is awarded annually to recognize a registered nurse who contributes to social or civic organizations that benefit citizens or communities through volunteer services.
Mrs. Caldwell has twin babies born in September of 2005 named Creed and Claire.
Mrs. Douglass received the Honorary Recognition Award at the 94th annual Kansas State Nurses Association convention. Honorary recognition is KSNA’s most prestigious award and is given annually to a registered nurse who has rendered distinguished service to the nursing profession in Kansas at the District, state and/or national level.
Mr. Brewer graduated July 7, 2006 with honors from University of Minnesota specializing in Anesthesia.
Ms. Matthews married Jeff Brotherton on June 17, 2006.
Mrs. Brennan has been a labor and delivery RN for four years. She has a three year old son named Dustin Michael Brennan and has been married for five years.
Dr. Bleich, Honorary Nursing Alumnus 2006, was named permanent chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was also inducted into the American Academy of Nursing as one of the 2006 new Fellows on November 11.
