Scholarships are available to students from a variety of backgrounds and residences. Numerous organizations provide information about scholarships; this list contains a few selected websites. Most of these sites have search engines which allow you to conduct you own scholarship search based on criteria that is relevant for you. Please check with the organizations directly to assure you have the current application information and date for submission.
Scholarships available only to Kansas residents
Ethnic Minority Scholarship – Kansas Board of Regents (www.kansasregents.org)
Designed to assist financially needy, academically competitive students who are identified as members of any of the following ethnic/racial groups: American Indian or Alaskan Native; Asian or Pacific Islander; Black; or Hispanic. Recipients must attend a Kansas community college, independent college, or Regents University.
Kansas Comprehensive Grants – Kansas Board of Regents (www.kansasregents.org)
Kansas Comprehensive Grants are available to needy Kansas residents enrolled full-time at the seventeen private colleges and universities located in Kansas, the six public universities, and Washburn University. For a state application call the Kansas Board of Regents at (785) 296-3518.
Robert C. Byrd Scholarship Program – Kansas State Department of Education (www.ksde.org)
This Federal program promotes student excellence and achievement and recognizes exceptionally able students who show promise of continued excellence. Scholars can attend any institution of higher education in the US. There are four, one-year scholarships awarded to graduating high school seniors who will enter college the following academic year.

These awards are available to KS residents attending a Kansas state college, university, vocational/technical school who are survivors or dependents of a Vietnam Veteran who became a POW/MIA, or is deceased due to a service-related. Contact the commission for an application and more information.

This helpful guide includes scholarship information for people of Native American heritage including lists of U.S. colleges and universities offering tuition waivers, an address list of tribal colleges and universities, and requirements for tribal enrollment.

Assistance for Students Seeking Financial Aid
Free help with admissions applications, conducting scholarship searches, and completing financial aid forms can be obtained from the TRIO program. Funded by the US Department of Education, this program provides FREE services to help middle school and high school students as well as veterans and adults to reach their career goals.
