Yes. In summer 2011, our programs transitioned to a new online application process. For the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, applications are handled by the national PTCAS. Applicants to the PhD in Rehabilitation Science program apply using the program's Web site.
The fee for application to KU is $60 for all degree programs in the School of Health Professions, including all programs offered by the KU Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science.
Applications for this program are accepted continuously throughout the year. The program may begin in the fall, spring or summer semesters. See the program overview for details.
There are no set number of classes that you must take a semester. In fact, you may skip a semester. We only ask that you take one class per year. Please Note: If you skip a semester, you must reactivate your account by contacting the KUMC registrar's office and submitting a Re-admit Card when ready to resume classes.
This is a 28-credit-hour program. Recent graduates of a physical therapy program may qualify for a reduced credit-hour program, provided their degree was received no more than seven (7) years prior to starting the post-professional program. Please contact the department directly to verify eligibility for this program.
There are several online courses through the School of Nursing, which will count as an elective. You can also take other classes within the post-professional program that you are not required to take. For example, if you choose the Orthopedic tract, but want to take an administrative course, you could use the administrative course as an elective.
Yes. We have had to limit our admission number due to the overwhelming success of the program. It is recommended that you apply early, because qualified applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
