Professional Background
Dr. Sabus's clinical background is in acute care practice including trauma, burn, and neuro rehabilitation. She is responsible for the clinical education program and currently teaches physical therapy intervention which introduces all the basic physical therapy handling skills, therapeutic exercise, and mobility training. Dr. Sabus also teaches orthopedic medicine which includes topics of orthopedic surgical conditions, rheumatology, fracture, orthotic and prosthetics.

Academic Background
Dr. Sabus began her academic career at Briar Cliff College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in biology. Immediately thereafter, Dr. Sabus transitioned to her graduate studies and completed a Master of Science in physical therapy at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. In 2008, Sabus completed her post-graduate work at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan., with a PhD in Education. Since that time, Dr. Sabus has held an appointment in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science at the KU Medical Center.

Research Focus
Dr. Sabus’ research pursuits are in innovative teaching practices, clinical educational outcomes, bridging academic and clinical education, inclusion of evidence-based practice in clinical education, and the social context of physical therapy practice and physical therapist education.
