Faculty Profile: Rebecca Nicholson, OTD, OTR/L
Professional Background
Becky Nicholson teaches courses in lifespan development, planning and intervention in occupational therapy, evaluation and assessment of occupational performance, case-based clinical reasoning, and community and family service systems. She also serves as the department's Level II fieldwork coordinator. In addition to her faculty position as a clinical assistant professor, Nicholson has provided occupational therapy services in school-based settings for more than 15 years.
For the past 5 years Nicholson has supervised fieldwork students in the delivery of occupational therapy services in underserved areas of Southeast Kansas. Also in the SW Kansas region, she has recruited and trained occupational therapists for the ANW Special Education Cooperative. She recently presented on the use of telementoring to support fieldwork students in rural practice at the annual National American Occupational Therapy Association Conference.
Academic Background
Nicholson earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 1985 and a Master of Science in Special Education in 1994 – both from the University of Kansas. Currently she is working towards the completion of a clinical doctoral degree in occupational therapy.
