Professional Background
Jane Cox has 23 years of pediatric practice experience serving children and families through infant and toddler services and public schools in their natural environments. A clinical assistant professor, Cox serves as the curriculum program manager for the master of occupational therapy program. She teaches problem-based learning, case-based clinical reasoning, family and community services systems and practicum classes. Cox serves nationally on the roster of accreditors for Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
Academic Background
Cox earned her Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy at the University of Kansas and continued her study at KU to earn a Master of Science in post-professional pediatric occupational therapy. Currently she is pursuing a PhD in Therapeutic Science at the University of Kansas.
Research Focus
Cox is currently the co-principal investigator for The Relationship between Sensory Processing Patterns and Participation and Preferences in Daily Life and Leisure and an intervention expert on Evaluating Effectiveness of Contextually Relevant Sensory Processing Intervention. Specific research interests focus on sensory processing, intervention in the natural environment and strength-based intervention.
