III. Heat Stress Disorders Exposure to heat may result in several disorders including Heat Rash, Hear Exhaustion/Cramps and Heat Stroke. Heat rash occurs when sweat glands become clogged. This may compromise sweat production. Heat Exhaustion & Cramps is a condition of profuse sweat production, body fatigue, muscle cramps, headache and nausea. If left untreated, this condition may lead to Heat Stroke. Heat stroke is a life-threatening condition that occurs as the body core temperature rises. Symptoms include hot, red and dry skin, lethergy, confusion and loss of consciencness. Immediate medical attention is required. See the References for more detailed information. |
