2003-2004 Officer Nominations

"According to the Bylaws of the AIHA Mid-America Section ("Local Section"),
it is my responsibility as Past-President to act as Chair of the Nomination
Committee for 2003.   In accordance with these responsibilities I am now
seeking nominations for the positions of President-Elect, Secretary, and
Treasurer.  I would encourage all of you who haven't yet served as an
officer in your Local Section to consider doing so.  I have found it to be
a very rewarding method of contributing to the profession.  In addition, it
has provided me opportunities to learn about the inner "workings" of AIHA.

The position of President-Elect is essentially a three-year commitment,
since the nominee will automatically transition to the position of
President and then Past-President.  The positions of Secretary and
Treasurer are each one-year commitments.  However, the Local Section
encourages candidates for these positions to consider a two-year commitment
in order to provide some consistency.  These Local Section officer
positions serve during the administrative year of May 1st to April 30th.

Nominations must be received by the end of this month so that the
candidates can be presented to attendees of the March 2003 Local Section
meeting.  At this meeting, one of the current officers will announce the
proposed slate of candidates and will ask for any nominations from the
floor (members in attendance).  Any nomination made at the meeting must be
with the name of the person and agreement by the nominated candidate to
accept the office position.  The slate must be closed and approved by vote
of the attending membership as the approved candidate ballot.  In March, a
ballot will be issued to all paid members to hold the election.  The
returns will be sent to my attention, counted, and verified by a second
party.  The newly-elected officers will be announced and presented to the
membership during the April 2003 Local Section meeting.

Please send me your nominations for the positions of President-Elect,
Secretary, and Treasurer, along with a brief one paragraph bio of the
candidate, no later than
February 28, 2003.  I would be pleased to discuss
this opportunity in greater detail with anyone interested.  My contact
information is listed below."
