The Office of Faculty Affairs at KUMC is available to assist with the phased retirement process for eligible employees across each of the three schools. The program is designed to facilitate an employee's transition to retirement. The agreement to enter into phased retirement must be mutually agreed upon by the employee and must also be in the best interest of the university. Phased retirement is available to faculty and other Regents unclassified employees who are 1) currently working on a 50% to 100% appointment, 2) at least 55 years of age, and 3) hold at least 10 years of full-time service with one or more Board of Regents institutions. Additional eligibility requirements are available here.
Any eligible faculty and staff interested in pursuing phased retirement should schedule an initial meeting with Robert Klein, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. During this meeting, Dr. Klein will discuss the necessary steps required to move forward in the phased retirement process. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Klein, please contact Jenny Memmott.
