The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs holds a number of events throughout the year for training, social connection, and development of postdoctoral scholars.  Please view the calendar below for upcoming opportunities.  Regularly occuring series include the Professional Development Series, Career Development Series, and Career Panels.  Additionally, Scientific Writing Workshops are held on a number of dates during the academic year.  Special events and other programs will cover a range of topics of interest to the postdoctoral community.

Special Event- Throughout the year, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs will bring special speakers and training opportunities to the postdoctoral community.  In April, through collaboration with the Office of Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies, guest speaker Paul Casella will lead a series of sessions focused on writing and communication.

Grant Writing Series: Please visit the main calendar to register and for dates, times, and location.  Three sessions will cover effective scientific writing for publication and grant funding, proposals and AIMS, and preparing effective resubmission grant applications.

Career Development Series- Career development events are offered throughout the year. These events focus on skills needed for identifying and pursuing a scholar's career goals. Skills covered range from profesisonal networking, to personal branding, and beyond.

Career Panels- Career panels are offered throughout the year and typically feature 3-4 panelists invited to speak and answer questions about their career path and background. Beyond the Bench panels focus on careers outside academic research, while other panels provide information from those on an academic path.

Professional Development Series- Professional development events are offered throughout the year. These events focus on the "soft skills" that can make a great difference in a scholar's success in the workplace. Skills covered range from communications, to leadership, and beyond.

Every September, the University of Kansas Medical Center joins with the National Postdoctoral Association, and institutions across the country to celebrate National Postdoctoral Appreciation Week.
