Graduation Checklist for KUMC Graduate Students
This checklist is a helpful resource for the student's final semester.
Application for Degree (AFD), Transcripts and Diploma
Graduating students must file an AFD according to the deadlines established by the Office of the Registrar. Transcripts and diplomas are issued by the Office of the Registrar.
Commencement
Graduating students are eligible to participate in Commencement held annually in May on the Lawrence campus.
Doctoral Hooding Ceremony
Doctoral candidates (PhD, AuD, DNP, DPT, OTD) are eligible to participate in the Doctoral Hooding Ceremony held annually in May on the Lawrence campus.

This calendar indicates Graduate Studies deadlines related to oral comprehensive and final examinations and submission of theses and dissertations for graduation.

University Academic Calendar
This calendar is maintained by the Office of the Registrar and indicates several deadlines including deadlines for enrollment, add/drop, fee payments and Application for Degree (AFD).
Doctoral Completion Survey
All PhD candidates must complete the Doctoral Completion Survey (DCS) the semester they graduate. Please use the DCS link to access the survey.
The DCS is comprised of questions from the Survey of Earned Doctorates (SED) and from the American Association of Universities Data Exchange (AAUDE). The SED is a federal agency survey conducted by a consortium of federal agencies to track the productivity and quality of graduate and professional training in the United States. The AAUDE membership is comprised of AAU institutions that participate in the exchange of data/information to support decision-making at their institution
GTA/GRA May Enroll in Fewer than Normal Hours Semester Graduates
A GTA/GRA may reduce enrollment hours the semester they graduate under certain circumstances upon submission of the GTA/GRA Request to Enroll in Fewer than Normal Hours request form and if approval is granted.

ETD Release Form
All students submitting a thesis or dissertation are requested to complete this release form so an electronic version of their thesis or dissertation can be included in KU ScholarWorks. Submit the completed release form to the Office of Graduate Studies. An embargo to delay release of the thesis or dissertation may be requested on the ETD Release Form.
