Transgenic & Gene-targeting Institutional Facility  :  Services, Forms & Pricing   :  Gene Targeted Mouse Production

Gene Targeted Mouse Production

Services provided by the facility

  • Previous selected targeted ES clones will be microinjected into C57Bl/6 blastocysts (unless another line is requested), after which they will be implanted into pseudopregnant females.
  • Guarantee to inject and implant 60 blastocytes.  Any resulting pups which are chimeric will be bred for possible germline transmission by the investigator.

Responsibilities of the investigator

  • Discuss experimental design with Melissa Larson (TGIF director) before beginning a project.
  • Responsible for karyotyping ES clones unless done by facility.
  • Provide targeted ES cells or clone number of positive cells.
  • Obtain IACUC approval for your project before submission of ES cells, space within the Animal Resources Center for housing targeted animals, and assigned personnel within the investigator’s lab to monitor targeted animals.
  • Develop a reliable genotyping assay (PCR, Southern, or both) for identifying positive mice from tail clippings.
  • Submit “Requisition Form” for services to be rendered.

Fees for Gene Targeted Mouse service

  • $2530.00 will be charged upon generating chimeric mice or if the clones fail to produce chimeras after 60 blastocysts injections and implantations.
  • Service Request Form for Gene Targeted Mouse Production.
