Once in the program, most students find having a job too much to handle for
that first semester. There are some part-time student positions available through
the Respiratory Care Clinical Services for which you will qualify by the middle
of the second semester.
The last two years are spend at the KUMC and consist of five semesters in a row (fall, spring, summer, fall, and spring).
The first two semesters are intense and require approximately 6 hours per week in lab. Clinical rotations start midway through the first semester and increase in time throughout the program.
By the end of the summer semester you will be eligible to sit for the CRTT exam offered in November. The summer semester is primarily clinical experience.
The last semester consists of 32 hours/week of practicum experience and one day of classes.
In short, you can expect to have lots to do! Having time on your hands with nothing to do will definitely not be a problem.
