Sechrist IV-100B

The Sechrist IV-100B is electrically and pneumatically powered, fluidically controlled, continuous flow, time or manually triggered and time cycled. The two objects on the right side of the ventilator represent the flowmeter and oxygen blender. The exhalation block is on the left side. The two modes of the IV-100B are CPAP and Ventilation. The Ventilation mode provides IMV.
In IMV mode the ventilator rate and I:E ratio are determined by the Inspiratory Time and Expiratory Time settings. All four values are displayed and should be checked prior to switching from CPAP to IMV mode. While still in CPAP mode, press "Time Preset" to display and adjust settings. Inspiratory Pressure control sets the peak inspiratory pressure limit. Expiratory pressure sets the CPAP/PEEP level. The flowmeter setting determines the continuous flow through the circuit. When the exhalation valve is closed during inspiration, the continuous gas flow is re-directed into the baby.
An Apnea Alarm Delay for up to 60 seconds can be set. The Apnea Alarm will activate if the airway pressure needle has not moved past the Red Line sensor setting "2" during the apnea delay time period. The Manual Button will deliver gas to the patient for as long as it is held down in either mode and during loss of electrical power.
