University of Kansas Medical Center - School of Allied Health Respiratory Care Education

Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care

KU offers a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care (BSRC) academic program with the option to specialize in pulmonary rehabilitation, perinatology, adult critical care, management, education, sleep disorders, cardiopulmonary diagnostics, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

The KU Respiratory Care program was founded in 1968 and has received full accreditation since its implementation. The program was founded as a 6 month Technician training program which soon gave way to a 1 year post-Associate Degree Therapist level program. The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care (BSRC) was initiated in 1978 and was one of the first Respiratory Care BS programs. In 2001 planning and implementation was completed for an on-line BSRC completion program for RRT credentialed or eligible respiratory care practitioners in addition to our "on-site" BSRC and advanced standing BS completion programs.
