Disorders Summary assignment
Assignment:
Remember - these summaries are to be written from a neuroscience perspective, not a therapeutic perspective!
- Choose one disorder from the list below, then use whatever resources you require to complete a disorder summary for that disorder.
- Next, choose two more disorders that are NOT on the list below but which are related to the nervous system, and complete these disorder summaries, for a total of three disorder summaries to complete this assignment.
- Save your files in either MS Word (.doc) or Rich Text (.rtf) format, with your name and the disorder included in the file name (for instance, "Radel_MS.doc", "Radel_ParkDis.rtf").
- Submit the files electronically.
Each of these Summaries will be worth 5% of your final grade (15% total), and all three will be due by 4pm on November 25th.
Disorders:
- Traumatic Brain Injury
- Stroke/CVA/TIA
- Meningitis
- Cerebral palsy
- Parkinson's disease
- Trisomy 21
- Diabetes
- Carpal Tunnel syndrome
- Spinal Cord injury
Do not choose Multiple Sclerosis! A Multiple Sclerosis summary has been placed on-line for you as an example. Your summaries should run about 2 pages in length - they should contain enough details to be useful to you in the future, and they should have appropriate references (e.g., APA format) for the materials you have used to develop that summary.
Remember - the other two disorders you choose must not appear on this list. You may also not use the Multiple Sclerosis example! Ask the instructor for guidance if you need clarification or suggestions! One good source of possibilities for these other disorders is the list of information and support groups maintained by the Dana Alliance.
