COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course emphasizes entry level skills related to supervision, teamwork, and communication within practice environments
COURSE OBJECTIVES

2. How are supervisory relationships developed? (ACOTE Stds: B 5.14, 7.14, 7.15)
3. How are OTA and OT aides supervised?(ACOTE Stds: B 4.4, 5.14)
4. How do teams function and what contributes to their success?

5. What are typical problems teams can develop and how can they be addressed?
(ACOTE Stds: B 7.17, 9.11)
6. What are the purposes of policies, procedures and protocols and how can they
be differentiated? (ACOTE stds: B 7.11)

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATONS/EVALUATION METHODS GRADING SCALE
Attendance
Attendance at all scheduled class sessions is required. Since this class occurs within a very compressed time frame missing any classes will significantly impact what is learned. If illness or extraordinary life circumstances cause a student to miss class, the student is required to notify the instructor of the class ahead of time.
Professional Behavior
Professional behavior in appearance, participation and conduct is expected. It is the prerogative of the instructor to deduct points for inappropriate or unprofessional behavior if deemed necessary. Professional behavior expectations are outlined in the OT Education Student Handbook. Incidents involving disregard for professional and ethical behavior may result in a point deduction in the class.
Professional Writing
Clear professional writing is an essential skill in professional practice. Developing skill in professional and technical writing is an important aspect of your learning within this curriculum. To support this learning each instructor will consider elements of language use in the grading of written communications, including appropriate content, style, word choice, syntax and mechanics.
