Needs Assessment - written assignments
For these assignments you will need to conduct a series of interviews to assess an individual's wants and needs and the environment in which that person operates. Using appropriate terminology, you will analyze the participant's needs and wants in relation to tasks they may need to perform.
Students are encouraged to work together throughout these assignments, particularly when considering the pros and cons of potential interventions. In accordance with this, each group together will submit a single document for each assignment, and group members will share equally in the resulting grade.
Please submit your group's assignments in hardcopy, using the template I have placed on-line for writing these assignments. This link will download the template as a generic text file (rich text format), suitable for use by most word processing systems.
Grading Criteria:
Analysis of Context variables:
Seven (7) analyses; each will be worth 70 points (totaling 49% of your final grade). You should attempt to include the following information in each of these analyses:
- Needs & wants identified by the participant (10 points)
- Details related to this context variable (15 points)
- Factors serving as facilitators and/or barriers (10 points)
- Potential interventions (15 points)
- Identify a series of interventions that may suit the situation, and discuss any potential problems that may arise if these interventions were to be employed. The interventions may be simple or complex, but should be restricted in emphasis to the context variable you are exploring. The interventions must, of course, somehow address the needs of the participant.
- Expected outcome (20 points)
- You should identify one or more outcomes which may reasonably be expected to emerge as a consequence of the specific intervention(s) you believe will be most successful. Explain your reasoning, and discuss any potential alternative explanations.
Information on the Needs Assessment Poster Presentation is available.
