Needs Assessment Assignment

The Needs Assessment assignment has a series of components. After being sorted into pairs or small groups, students will make initial contact with a community member or consumer to arrange a time to visit and become acquainted. You should then plan to meet regularly with this person over the course of the term. These meetings will provide the foundation of seven written assignments analyzing that person's contextual environment. Each assignment will be worth 50 points (5% of the final grade) and will analyze a specific contextual variable (physical, temporal, personal, cultural, spiritual, social, virtual). Finally, the culminating activity will be to prepare and present a poster summarizing your findings and your thinking about potential interventions appropriate for this person in their environment. The poster will be worth 200 points (20% of your final grade). The instructor expects that you will anticipate upcoming assignments and meet ahead of time with the individual, and that you will prepare the assignments completely and thoughtfully. Grades for these assignments will be assigned to all members of a group equally, based on an expectation that all members will participate equally in the Needs Assessment process.
