Shuttle launch for STS-81 is here as are most launches, but 39A is also used sometimes. This picture, which was taken about a half mile from the pad, shows the protective housing around the shuttle. The housing swings away from the shuttle shortly before launch. The red tip on the shuttle is the fuel tank.
