About the University of Kansas Medical Center web site

The University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) web site (kumc.edu) is a communications tool committed to the support of the medical center's efforts to provide a technologically superior environment in support of health care and health education. For more information regarding patient care and consumer health information, please see the University of Kansas Hospital web site.

KUMC is not able to provide medical consultations via the Internet. It is strongly recommended that people speak directly with a medical care professional if they have questions about their or another person's health.

What happened to the original kumc.edu design?

The original kumc.edu design was introduced in May of 1995. In November 1996, the site was redesigned to provide better access to the various campus resources. On December 29, 1999, a design that utilized a database to dynamically generate information about units at KUMC offered greater functionality from the main page. An archive of previous designs is available for viewing in the Archives.

The current design, implemented on February 5, 2009, was created with a marketing focus for the institution's academic and research initiatives. At the same time, the design attempts to retain the searching, browsing and indexing functionality of the previous version.
