Slide 1 (MRI): History--man comes into physician’s office complaining of foot pain and swelling. Diagnosis--benign tumor (hemangioma) above calcaneus posteriorly.

--Slide 2: Surgery for removal of tumor. (Benefits of early

detection).

Slide 3 (MRI): History--woman complains of persistant pain and immobility in foot. Diagnosis--malignant tumor (synovial sarcoma of tendons) occupying most of the space in the foot.

--Slide 4: Unfortunately the cancer had progressed too far to save her foot and it had to be amputated to stop the spread of the disease. In this slide, the foot has been sectioned to reveal the huge mass.
